Trials of election petition

Procedures of election petition deals with invalidity of election and it is the single-tiered court system. In regard to the presidential election and the general election, therefore, the Supreme Court is the court of the first instance and the court of last resort while the High Court is the court with the jurisdiction over local council elections. More specifically, petitions for election about validity of election for heads of local governments, mayors or governors are reviewed by the Supreme Court, while those involving the heads of GU, SI and GUN are heard by the high court.
